As a member of the Corporate Communications team at Cummins, I am responsible for planning and executing various large-scale events including the Annual Shareholders Meeting, Quarterly Corporate All-Employee Meetings, and staff offsites. Other responsibilities include helping create brand style guidelines, helping design and present media training for executives, and writing internal event blogs.
In addition, I am an Adjunct Instructor of Communication at Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana. Teaching interpersonal communication is a passion of mine, as it allows me to mentor and coach, helping my students to develop into the best versions of themselves. Training and counseling positions have always been of strong interest to me, especially in academia.
I completed my masters degree in Organizational Communication from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana, where I also completed my undergraduate degree. While attending Ball State, I was an instructor of Public Speaking.
My professional passions include drafting creative and powerful messages that communicate the information clearly, concisely, and in ways that inspire people to act, especially in an intercultural and diverse setting.
I interned at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum in the summer of 2011 in the Communications department in Washington D.C. There, I had the opportunity to carry out a variety of tasks including media relations, news writing, credentialing media, creating media reports, marketing, public relations, and monitoring social media. I also have extensive experience in intercultural communication, consulting/training, administrative duties, and organizational communication.
I also volunteer with various organizations, including United Way's ReadUP, Camp Erin, Pack Away Hunger, The Immigrant Welcome Center, and the Lawrence Township schools. In my free time I enjoy reading, learning Spanish, Pilates, history, playing piano, traveling, going to movies, and spending time with friends and family. My two young nieces always keep me on my toes!
